Our Philosophy & Curriculum

What makes Prologue different from other English centers?

At Prologue, we view every student as a writer with a unique story to tell. While many centers focus solely on formulaic "drill-and-kill" methods, we prioritise care, craft, and intention. Our space is designed to inspire and ensuring that students don't just "study" English, but learn to love the power of language.

Is your curriculum aligned with the MOE syllabus?

Yes. We are fully aware of the rigors of the Singapore education system. Our curriculum is mapped to the latest MOE English Language syllabus, ensuring students are well-prepared for the technical demands of the PSLE, O-Levels, and IP/IB assessments through a more thoughtful, inquiry-based approach.

Do you provide your own learning materials?

Absolutely. We take great pride in our in-house materials, such as our "A Close Chomp" series. These are not just worksheets; they are carefully designed workbooks that encourage critical thinking, vocabulary expansion, and structural mastery.

Trials & Enrollment

Do you offer trial lessons?

We believe that finding the right fit takes more than just one session. To allow a student enough time to settle in and for our teachers to properly assess their writing level, we do not offer single trials. Instead, we offer a 4-Lesson Trial Pass. This provides a comprehensive introduction to our craft and curriculum.

Where can I find your current fees and class timings?

You can view our most updated Fee Structure and Class Schedule by clicking. View Schedule & Fees.

Attendance & Replacement Classes

What happens if my child misses a physical class?

We understand that schedules can get busy. If your child cannot attend their usual physical class, we offer the following options:

  • In-Week Replacement: Join another physical class happening within the same week.

  • Online Option: If you cannot make it to the centre, you may join a live session online on any available day offered during that week.

  • Lesson Recordings: As a last resort, we can provide a recording of the lesson for the student to watch in their own time. Rest assured, the teacher will also check in with the student after class to clarify any doubts and ensure they have understood the material and are fully caught up to speed.

Our Studio Environment

What is the class size at Prologue?

To maintain a high standard of feedback, our class sizes range from 8 to 12 students, depending on the level. This ensures a vibrant classroom discussion while still allowing for personalised attention to each student’s work.

What is your "No Shoes" policy?

To keep our studio clean and comfortable (almost like a second home!), we observe a no-shoes policy.

Our centre is vacuumed and mopped daily, so we ask that all students place their footwear neatly on the provided shoe shelves before entering the learning space.

Safety & Communication

How do teachers communicate with parents?

We believe in keeping the lines of communication open. For more specific concerns, our teachers are available for brief check-ins before or after class or on Class Dojo.

How do you track my child’s progress?

Every piece of writing at Prologue is an opportunity for growth. Marked assignments and compositions are typically returned with constructive feedback that explains the why and the how to help your child improve their next draft.

What are your safety protocols?

The safety of our writers is our priority. Our centre is equipped with 24/7 CCTV surveillance in common areas and classrooms. Additionally, we ensure the learning environment is sanitized regularly to maintain a healthy space for everyone.

Prologue Oral Masterclass Pass: Booking Policies & T&Cs

Booking & Availability

Rolling Schedule: Slots are released on a rolling 14-day basis. You can book any available session up to 2 weeks in advance.

Subject to Availability: Holding credits does not guarantee a slot on your preferred date or time. All sessions are strictly capped at 4 students and are booked on a first-come, first-served basis. We highly recommend booking your sessions early.

Booking Cutoffs & Last-Minute Drop-ins: If a session has zero bookings 12 hours prior to its start time, it will be automatically cancelled and removed from the schedule. However, if a session is confirmed to run (i.e., has at least 1 student booked), last-minute bookings are welcome right up until the start of the class, subject to the strict 4-student cap.

Cancellations & No-Shows

The 48-Hour Rule: You may cancel or reschedule a booking directly through the portal up to 48 hours before the class begins with no penalty.

Late Cancellations: Any cancellations or no-shows within 48 hours of the class will result in a strict forfeiture of 1 credit.

Medical Exceptions: If your child is unwell, please WhatsApp us a valid Medical Certificate (MC) prior to the class, and we will manually refund the credit to your account.

Technical Issues: If you experience technical issues while trying to cancel a class on the portal, please WhatsApp our admin immediately. The timestamp of your message will be honoured as your official cancellation time.

Class Entry & Latecomers

Strict Roster: We use fixed Zoom links for our sessions. Teachers will check the waiting room against the official booking roster. Unregistered students will not be admitted into the session.

Latecomers: Students who arrive late will be admitted, but teachers will not restart the lesson or recap missed frameworks to ensure fairness to the other students. Latecomers will simply join the practice currently in progress.

Credit Validity & Refunds

Strict Expiry Date: All credits are valid strictly until 11th August (the conclusion of the PSLE Oral examinations). Please plan your practice schedule accordingly to ensure all credits are utilised before this date. Credits are strictly non-transferable between families.

No Refunds: As this is a highly specialised, time-sensitive program leading up to the PSLE, we operate on a strict No Refunds policy. We encourage parents to purchase only the number of credits they intend to use. Any remaining credits not utilised after 11th August will automatically expire and cannot be refunded or be rolled over into other term classes.
